Vikings Safety Jamal Adams Reportedly Suffers Season-Ending Knee Injury

Jamal Adams’ attempt to resurrect his career with the Minnesota Vikings hit a major setback. Adams suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Vikings’ preseason game against the New York Giants on Saturday, first reported by NFL Network. He was in prime position to make the Vikings’ 53-man roster after working in training camp as a hybrid safety and linebacker. At 30 years old, Adams has bounced around the league. After being selected No. 6 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, he was sent to the Seattle Seahawks in a 2020 blockbuster trade. Adams has also spent time with the Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders before signing with the Vikings this offseason. Through nine seasons in the league, Adams has recorded 546 tackles, 22.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, four interceptions, and 36 pass deflections. Moving to linebacker late in his career, he is looking for a fresh start at a new position. With Adams now out for the season, attention shifts to free-agent safety Harrison Smith. The longtime Vikings star hasn’t officially retired, with some speculating that a reunion between the two sides would make sense following Adams’ injury.
